2025 Card Review: OCBC Rewards

2025 Card Review: OCBC Rewards
Is HeyMax the only thing carrying OCBC Rewards in 2025?

The OCBC Rewards Card has had its ups and downs, but 2024 brought a silver lining: a 6 mpd bonus for MCC5311. This means you can use OCBC Rewards to buy HeyMax vouchers, allowing you to rack up miles across a wide range of categories. While this is only a temporary boost until June 2025, it’s a welcome opportunity for those looking to maximize their miles.

OCBC Rewards Card: MileWise Card Rating for 2025

☐ Core Card to Use 🔥

☑ Use Only When There Is a Promotion 🎯

☐ Apply Only for Sign-Up Bonus (SUB) 💰

☐ Don't Bother Applying 🚫

MileWise Commentary: With HeyMax vouchers (MCC: 5311), you can extend this 6 mpd benefit to a wide variety of everyday spend categories. However, the card still suffers from limited bonus categories compared to competitors, points earned in S$5 blocks, and underwhelming transfer ratios for many airline and hotel partners. I am using OCBC Rewards as much as I can for the 6mpd, but I wouldn't recommend this card unless you're a big spender and have already maxed out your caps on your other 4-6mpd credit cards.

Key Features of the OCBC Rewards Card

  • 4 mpd on eligible online and offline shopping (restricted MCC whitelist)

  • 6 mpd (till Jun 2025) on department stores, duty-free, and Watsons

  • Use HeyMax (MCC: 5311) to effectively earn 6 mpd on more categories

  • S$1,110 monthly cap on 4 mpd, S$1,000 cap on 6 mpd categories

  • Annual fee waived for first 2 years, and waived with S$10,000 annual spend thereafter

  • Although it has 8 transfer partners, poor points-to-miles ratio for 7 of them means your only "worth it" option is Krisflyer.

Who Should use the OCBC Rewards Card?

  • Online or offline shoppers: If you regularly spend at online shopping, department stores, duty-free shops, and Watsons, the 6 mpd promo is a game-changer.

  • Those Who Max Out the S$1,500 Cap Monthly on DBS WWMC – If your online spending regularly exceeds S$1,500 per month, adding the OCBC Rewards Card can provide additional spending caps from your online shopping portion.
