Nerf! AXS is no longer accepting the Chocolate Finance Card

Updated: Mar 8

2025 Card Review: Chocolate Finance Visa (ChocoFin)
Oh, come on.

Oh, That Was Fast! The AXS x Chocolate Finance pairing lasted for only a month—blink, and you missed it!

The Chocolate Finance Card Nerf – Is It Time to Cancel?

Chocolate Finance just updated their FAQ that "AXS is no longer accepting the Chocolate Debit Card as a credit card payment mechanism. We are exploring with them to see if we can resolve."

Let’s be honest—it stings. This was a major draw for many cardholders who used it to pay income tax, insurance, and utilities while racking up free miles. Without this perk, the card undoubtedly loses some of its luster.

But before you rush to cut it up and cancel, let’s take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Is the Card Still Worth Keeping?

Despite the AXS setback, the Chocolate Finance Card still holds some serious value. Here’s why you might not want to overreact and cancel just yet:

You still can earn miles on your bills, if your bill provider allows credit card payment on their website – Some insurers, like GE, allow credit card payment on their website. Most credit cards don’t reward insurance payments, so earning 2 mpd on these transactions is better than nothing.

Zero-Cost Foreign Currency Spending – No FX fees mean you can use this card for overseas spending without paying your typical ~3.25%. Sure, the miles earn rate isn’t stellar, but it is free miles.

To me, I still see a use case of using Chocolate Finance for foreign spending. Chocolate Finance is better then Youtrip (No miles) and Trust Cashback card ( because I value 2 HeyMax miles > 1% cashback)

Should You Cancel?

It’s easy to react emotionally when a card loses a key perk, but a smart miles strategy isn’t about short-term frustration—it’s about maximizing value. If you were using this card exclusively for AXS, then yes, this change probably makes it far less useful to you. However, if you still have other bills or foreign spending, there’s no real reason to cancel just yet.

The real concern? Whether this is the first of many nerfs to come. If Chocolate Finance continues to scale back benefits, then a reassessment will be necessary. Until then, the card still offers solid value in areas that would otherwise earn zero miles.

Final Thoughts

No one likes a nerf, but let’s be realistic—this card isn’t dead yet. Losing AXS is a blow, but the Chocolate Finance Card still fills a niche in earning miles on traditionally excluded categories. Rather than a knee-jerk reaction to cancel, take a moment to evaluate how it fits into your overall miles-earning strategy.
