CardUp 2025: 1.75% Fee on Income Taxes via Visa

CardUp 2025: 1.75% Fee on Income Taxes via Visa
Turn your tax bill into miles from just 0.86 cpm!

CardUp has unveiled its 2025 income tax payment promotion, offering a reduced administrative fee of 1.75% for recurring tax payments made with Visa or UnionPay cards. If you're using the Chocolate Finance Visa card (2 mpd), you could be purchasing miles for as little as 0.86 cents each.

Promotion breakdown

  • Use promo code 'MLTAX25R' for recurring Income Tax Payments at 1.75% admin fee.

    • This promo will apply up to 11 monthly recurring tax payments, with the earliest due date starting from 7 May 2025. Payment must be scheduled by 31 August 2025, and the last payment due date must be before 25 March 2026.

  • Use promo code 'VTAX25ONE' for one time Income Tax Payments at 1.75% admin fee.

    • Payment must be scheduled by 23 May 2025, and the last payment due date must be before 25 March 2026.

Cost per mile

For those without ultra-premium cards like Citi ULTIMA, DBS Insignia, or UOB Reserve (all 1.6 mpd), here are the best alternatives. Since the UOB PRVI Miles Visa is an entry-level card, using anything below 1.4 mpd wouldn’t make sense.

Special Offer for OCBC Cardholders

New CardUp users with OCBC credit cards can access a lower 1.5% fee:

  • OCBC VOYAGE & OCBC Premier Visa Infinite: Use code OCBC15 (valid for first-time payments only)

  • OCBC 90°N Visa/MC: Use code OCBC90N15 (valid for first-time payments only)

Final thoughts

Will I be using CardUp for my income tax? I'm still undecided. The Chocolate Finance Visa’s 0.86 cents per mile rate is tempting, but I might prefer saving its precious S$1,000 limit for insurance premiums or utilities. Since I don’t have the DBS Vantage, my next best option is the UOB PRVI Miles Visa at 1.23 cents per mile.

As I’ve covered in a previous article on KrisFlyer mile valuation, my personal ceiling for buying miles is 1.1 cents per mile, reflecting a 25% discount from my average redemption value. However, I might break this rule as I’m planning an upcoming family trip and need all the miles I can get.

What about you? Are you taking advantage of this promo?
